This area has earned itself a well-deserved reputation as a foodie destination, for both the quality of eateries throughout the area and the array of produce on offer. You will be sure to find a lovely cafe, pub or restaurant in most of the towns and villages throughout the Cotswolds and, if it’s fine dining you’re after, there is a sprinkling of Michelin stars too. Here are a few places that we can personally recommend and all within a short driving distance of us:

The Castle at Edgehill

A unique restaurant and country pub perched on the summit of Edgehill with wonderful views over the Warwickshire countryside and historic battle site. With a varied menu, there is something for everyone to enjoy and you may even spot an internationally famous film star passing through. The Castle boasts an impressive open balcony (ask for a table by the window) and an attractive garden for al fresco dining. Afternoon Teas are also available. There is a small car park opposite or roadside parking.

The renowned Michelin-starred Royal Oak at Whatcote offers a distinctive a la carte and tasting menu using top quality seasonal local produce. The pub offers a traditional bar area along with a light and airy dining room. Opens Wednesday to Sunday and there is a customer car park.

The Peacock at Oxhill

This 15th-century inn located in picturesque South Warwickshire, guarantees a warm and friendly welcome. The Sunday roasts are fabulous – and the sticky toffee pudding is a must! (Not to be confused with the Peacock Inn at Tysoe village)

The Falcon at Warmington

With lovely gardens affording outstanding views across the Oxfordshire countryside and a wide selection of gins and fine wines, the Falcon has become a very popular local pub. A climb-on vintage tractor in the garden is popular with children and there are circular walks across fields.

The Falcon hosts various events throughout the year, including outdoor cinema, a Gin Festival, Beer Festival and Jazz nights. Check their Facebook page for further details but be aware these tend to get booked up months in advance. There is a large car park for customers.

The Bower House at Shipston-on-Stour

There is always a friendly atmosphere at Bower House, situated in a glorious Grade 2-listed Georgian building in the historic market town of Shipston-on-Stour. The delicious menu uses seasonal and carefully sourced ingredients from local suppliers. Their burgers are a particular highlight. Park in the High Street or one of the public pay and display car parks which are free in the evenings.

For freshly cooked and delicious authentic Indian cuisine; this place does not disappoint. Be sure to try the chicken shashlik and lamb madras! They also offer a takeaway service but please be aware that they get very busy at the weekends, so we recommend you order well in advance. There is a large car park for customers.
